Portraits

“Most people stiffen with self-consciousness when they pose for a photograph. Lighting and fine camera equipment are useless if the photographer cannot make them drop the mask, at least for a moment. so he can capture on his film their real, undistorted personality and character.” - Philippe Halsman

I take this mindset into every portrait I take. We all have something that makes us who we are. For some it is that irresistible expression of hope we made the shot, and others it is that look when thinking back to one of the hardest days we ever lived. The key is to be willing for someone to show that to you and knowing what to do when they do.
